Boston Scott, a running back who played six seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles, announced his retirement from the NFL on October 16, 2024, via a statement on his Instagram account.[1][2]
The 30-year-old Scott, listed at 5 feet 6 inches, played college football at Louisiana Tech University in Conference USA before the Eagles selected him in the sixth round, 240th overall, of the 2018 NFL Draft.[3][4]
Scott appeared in 75 regular-season games with 12 starts, all with the Eagles from 2018 to 2023. He rushed 232 times for 1,295 yards and five touchdowns, and had 51 receptions for 370 yards and one touchdown. He also returned 13 punts for 68 yards and one kickoff for eight yards.[4]
Scott gained the nickname "Giants Killer" for key performances against NFC East rival New York, including a touchdown run in the Eagles' 31-15 wild-card playoff victory over the Giants on January 16, 2022.[1][4]
His last regular-season game was on January 7, 2024, a 27-10 Eagles win over the Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.[4]
Released by Philadelphia in March 2024, Scott joined the Los Angeles Rams' practice squad in August before moving to the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad in September 2024. He did not play in any regular-season games for either team.[1][2]
In Super Bowl LVII on February 12, 2023, Scott had three carries for seven yards as the Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35.[4]
In his retirement post, Scott expressed mixed emotions, crediting coaches, teammates and family, and reflecting on his path from a college walk-on to the NFL.[1]
Scott has since joined esports organization Dignitas as a content creator.[5]
