Rams Reacquire Receiver Atwell From Dolphins In Trade
The Los Angeles Rams are bringing back wide receiver Tutu Atwell, acquiring him from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for running back Jarquez Hunter, according to a Thursday report from ESPN. The move reunites Atwell with the Rams just five months after he left the team in free agency.
Atwell, a second-round pick by Los Angeles in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Louisville, spent four seasons with the Rams, appearing in 64 games while working as a downfield receiving threat and return specialist. He recorded five receiving touchdowns and added another on the ground during his time with the club. Atwell was part of the Rams' Super Bowl LVI roster but missed the second half of that season with a shoulder injury. Hunter joined the Rams as a fourth-round pick in the 2025 draft out of Auburn. As a rookie, he appeared in five games and worked primarily on special teams before being included in the trade to Miami, where he will look to add depth to the Dolphins' backfield.
Atwell now returns to head coach Sean McVay's offense, joining a receiver room that includes Davante Adams and Puka Nacua as targets for reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford. The Rams open their season against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia on Sept. 10, while the Dolphins begin their campaign against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sept. 13.
