Rory McIlroy, a 35-year-old professional golfer from Northern Ireland, has outlined the menu he would select for the Masters Champions Dinner if he claims the green jacket.[1][2]
The dinner is an annual tradition dating to 1952, hosted by the defending Masters champion on the Tuesday evening prior to the tournament for all living past winners at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.[3]
McIlroy's envisioned menu features traditional Irish champ potatoes—a mashed potato dish with scallions and butter that he enjoyed as a child—as a side, along with sticky toffee pudding served with vanilla ice cream for dessert.[4]
He has also cited family influences, such as bacon-wrapped dates similar to those prepared by his mother, and expressed interest in incorporating elk, which he has received in large shipments.[5]
Other elements include inspirations from his favorite New York City restaurant Le Bernardin for a yellowfin tuna carpaccio first course, and main course options like wagyu filet mignon and seared salmon, paired with Brussels sprouts and crispy Vidalia onion rings.[5]
McIlroy, who turned professional in 2007, has won four majors—the 2011 U.S. Open, 2012 PGA Championship, 2014 Open Championship and 2014 PGA Championship—but requires a Masters victory to complete the career Grand Slam, joining Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.[1][2]
His best finish at the Masters is second place in 2022. The 2025 Masters Tournament is scheduled for April 10-13 at Augusta National.[3][6]
